How Does A Blog Help Your SEO?

Blogs can do great things for the search engine optimization (SEO) of your website. Not only will it help your SEO, it can also be a great resource for the potential customers that come to your website.

I do want to state that it only helps if you actually use your blog consistently. If you don’t think you have enough to write about, or you don’t think you will be able to keep up with it, I recommend you do not have one. It looks bad if you have a blog that you never update and it won’t help you with your SEO either. To be consistent with your blog I recommend blogging at least every other week if not more frequently.

Search engines favor sites that are both active and also adding new content consistently. A blog accomplishes both of these factors. By having a blog you are proving that your site is not static and that the wealth of information on the site is not only current and up-to-date but also growing.

Blogs give you more opportunities to add in keywords related to the products and services on your website. To come up with keywords think about what people would type into a search engine to find your blog. Once you determine the keywords that define your blog, make sure to add them into your blog post. Because the keywords are unique to each blog post, you are casting a bigger net out in the web in hopes to catch a larger audience. The more blogs, the more opportunities you have to connect with different audiences.

Along with keywords, blogs are a great place to put links. In every blog you should try to have 1-3 links. At least one of these links should go somewhere else within your website. This will help people navigate your website easier and help them take a more interactive role while on your site. For example you can have links that link to other related blogs, or maybe to a particular service/product page that you reference in the blog.

Blogs can be a great way to reach out to your customers, and an opportunity for them to learn more about you and your company. With the added bonus of a boost to the SEO of your site, it is something that should be seriously considered for every company that has a website.
